Over the past few days the air quality in Eagle County and throughout much of Colorado has been poor, as there are several active and large wild fires across the western U.S.
Fox News in Denver reported this AM that there are 140 fires covering 1.9 million acres. More than 26,000 people are working the fires with more than 200 helicopters and nearly 2,000 engines.
Below is a map showing how widespread the wild fires are across the entire west coast.
The closest active fires to Eagle County are burning in Routt County, our neighbors to the noth. The Deep Creek Fire is roughly 8 miles northeast of Hayden and 13 miles northwest of Steamboat Springs. This fire has already consumed 2,086 acres with 0% containment as of Tuesday night. Luckily no major injuries have been reported.
Stay safe out there!
